The body does become dependent upon the medication and when stopped suddenly withdrawal syndrome can result. The medication usually needs to be tapered slowly to avoid the withdrawal symptoms that can be very uncomfortable and even dangerous depending on the patient. Some of the more common side effects include but are not limited to nausea, problems with erectile function, insomnia, diarrhea, dry mouth, tremor, dizziness, and changes in libido. These side effects will usually dissipate over time so that patients did not need to stop therapy.
